The arguments about legalizing medical
marijuana or cannabin rage on and, with such strength of feeling on both sides
of the argument, it can be difficult to get a clear perspective. We believe
that the only way to see the wood for the trees, or the weed for the smoke, is
to be objective.There is overwhelming evidence that cannabis relieves various
medical conditions; unpleasant symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, pain and
spasm, as well as the side effects of some prescription medicines. It is fact:
marijuana is less toxic to the system than many pharmaceuticals.
A fact that informs the opinion of much
of the medical establishment is the paucity of good quality research on the use
of medical marijuana. Doctors are trained to mistrust anything that hasn’t been
fully researched but there is a glaring problem here: the cultivation and
possession of marijuana is illegal. Legalize marijuana and the research becomes
possible.
Mostly Indonesia people has negative
opinion when they hear the word of “weed”, something taboo, and illegal.
However, I do not 100% degree about that. In my opinion, the use of weed for
some reasons, especially for patient’s treatment or relief pain. It gives
advantages for people. That’s why, it is important to legalize weed clinics.
Weed clinic itself means a clinic used to threat patient by using weed as a main
medicine.

Positive Argument
In my
opinion, a weed clinic may be legalized, because cannabis it self can give advantages
for patient.
There is
overwhelming evidence that cannabis relieves various medical conditions;
unpleasant symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, pain and spasm, as well as the
side effects of some prescription medicines. It is fact: marijuana is less
toxic to the system than many pharmaceuticals.
The
famous news station in America, CNN, recently releases documentary film about
medical marijuana, entittled “Weed and Weed 2: Cannabis Madness.” The Weed film
shows us clearly a baby who get better after consuming marijuana oil. Besides, according to the web “legalisasiganja.com”,
weed can cure illnesses, such as, epilepsy, diabete, cancer, asthma, and heart
attack. Unfortunately, Badan Narkotika
Nasional (BNN) or media only reports the negative effect of the use of cannabis.
A CNN
coresponden, Dr. Sanjay Gupta did apologize because he had not already known
about the use of medical marijuana, and had not read the result of research by
another countries.
This argument is also strengthened by the Speaker of Lingkar
Ganja Nusantara, Dhira Narayana, who says
that if marijuana is legalized, the distribution will be easily supervised.
Since it is a legal thing, government can control its distribution. Although
weed have a negative view from people, it can be used to relief pain. (for
example help to relief the pain after having surgery). That’s why, some

authors of the Journal of Law and Economics study, Anderson and University of
Colorado at Denver economist Daniel Rees, broadened their analysis in a 2013
article published by the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management. Anderson
and Rees argue that marijuana legalization is apt, on balance, to produce
“public health benefits,” mainly because of a reduction in alcohol consumption.
Their projection hinges on the premise that marijuana and alcohol are
substitutes. If marijuana and alcohol are instead complements, meaning that
more pot smoking is accompanied by more drinking, the benefits they predict
would not materialize. Anderson and Rees say “studies based on clearly defined
natural experiments generally support the hypothesis that marijuana and alcohol
are substitutes.” But in the same issue of the Journal of Policy Analysis and
Management, Rosalie Liccardo Pacula, co-director of the RAND Corporation’s Drug
Policy Research Center, and University of South Carolina criminologist Eric
Sevigny conclude that the evidence on this point “remains mixed.”

Then,
there are our human rights: why shouldn’t we legalize marijuana, surely we have
the right to make choices for and about ourselves unless there is evidence that
our preference will cause harm to others. There is no proof of third-party harm
being caused by users of marijuana, yet third-party harm is caused by
substances such as tobacco and alcohol, both of which are lawful.

The knock-on effect of black market activity and the
punishment of marijuana users is expense: it costs an immense amount of money
to seek out and punish those who break the marijuana law. Legalizing marijuana
would not only save thousands of dollars, it would also create another income
stream for the government in terms of taxes.

I believe that Marijuana or cannabins is just fine. compared
to alcohol, weed slows down brain cells. drinking kills them. More people die
from drunk driving than marijuana. Yes, it can be known as a gateway drug.. it
can lead to Cocaine and Molly. but Marijuana is not addicting. the high of it
is. It should be legal federally but the government should leave it alone. tax
like cigarettes, but do not touch the natural herb.
in my opinion marijuana should be legalized , for medical
purposes ! what good does beer and alcohol do to your hurting knee pain.?
absolutely nothing! yet alcohol and tobacco are legal, and not everyone drinks
just because it’s legal , so why not legalize marijuana . there are worse
prescribed medicine with bad symptoms that can cause like liver damage
etc….when cannabis does nothing, but relieve pain , but I agree that people
using it legally ,should use it responsibly! plus its great for the government
since then can so much tax money.
If you really want to legalize pot the first thing you need
to do is find out who are your congressional and state representives. Write a
letter to their offices or better yet send
an E-mail.
Using marijuana is not harming anyone else. Same thing with
rape. It’s not wrong because the law says so, IT’S WRONG BECAUSE IT’S A
COMPLETELY MESSED UP THING TO DO.
its not very addictive. it has positive medical effects. it
doesnt cause serious long term damage to the smoker and presents little to no
third-party risks either. and for those saying that usage rates have increased
in states where its been legalized… SO WHAT?! what harm is it causing?! sorry
for making your population happy and your state money. and for those still

I disagree about this motion, THIS HOUSE WOULD legalize weed

The Manager of Penguatan Lembaga Rehabilitasi Komponen
Masyarakat, Budyo Prasetyo, views that the effort of people who want to try to
persuade the government to legalize the use of marijuana is not sense. In a
glance, the Undang Undang Narkotika No. 35 Tahun 2009 also classifies the
marijuana into the first weed because it adopts the DEA thought. It means that
marijuana can not be used to relief pain.
Legalizing marijuana is something silly and no sense. The use
of marijuana belongs to the “CRIME WITHOUT VICTIM”. The effect of the use of
marijuana will be significantly bad when driving.
The education background of people in a country also affects
the awareness in determining to choice marijuana to consume. Other country may
legal marijuana, but it will arise bad effect if marijuana is legalized in
Indonesia.
Besides relaxing the user, marijuana also can damages the
brain nerves permanently. Hasulinogen makes the user to do action according to

that marijuana legalization in Washington, approved by voters in that state at

whose blood tested positive for THC, marijuana’s main psychoactive ingredient,
rose from 18.6 percent in 2012 to 24.9 percent in 2013. That’s an increase of
more than 33 percent, as Project SAM emphasizes with a scary-looking bar graph.
At the same time, the total number of DUID arrests in Washington rose by just 3
percent, about the same as the increases seen in the previous three years,

depression or sleepiness. Some users suffer panic attacks or anxiety.
Marijuana smoke contains 50% to 70% more cancer-causing
substances than tobacco smoke. One major research study reported that a single
cannabis joint could cause as much damage to the lungs as up to five regular
cigarettes smoked one after another. Long-time joint smokers often suffer from
bronchitis, an inflammation of the respiratory tract.
The drug can affect more than your physical health. Studies
in Australia in 2008 linked years of heavy marijuana use to brain
abnormalities. This is backed up by earlier research on the long-term effects
of marijuana, which indicate changes in the brain similar to those caused by
long-term abuse of other major drugs. And a number of studies have shown a
connection between continued marijuana use and psychosis.
Marijuana changes the structure of sperm cells, deforming
them. Thus even small amounts of marijuana can cause temporary sterility in
men. Marijuana use can upset a woman’s menstrual cycle.
Studies show that the mental functions of people who have
smoked a lot of marijuana tend to be diminished. The THC in cannabis disrupts
nerve cells in the brain affecting memory.
Cannabis is one of the few drugs which causes abnormal cell
division which leads to severe hereditary defects. A pregnant woman who
regularly smokes marijuana or hashish may give birth prematurely to an
undersized, underweight baby. Over the last ten years, many children of
marijuana users have been born with reduced initiative and lessened abilities
to concentrate and pursue life goals. Studies also suggest that prenatal
(before birth) use of the drug may result in birth defects, mental abnormalities
and increased risk of leukemia1 in children.

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health,
marijuana consumption has been rising across the country in recent years. The
share of respondents who reported using marijuana in the previous month rose
from 6.2 percent in 2002 to 7.3 percent in 2012. As Columbia University
researchers Guohua Li and Joanne E. Brady pointed out a few months ago in the
American Journal of Epidemiology, this increase in marijuana consumption has been
accompanied by an increase in the percentage of drivers killed in car crashes
who test positive for cannabinol, a marijuana metabolite.

marijuana should
not be legalized. it causes health problems and does not do anything good for
you. just because it is not as bad as other drugs does not mean that it is
good. I understand the money issue, and it would probably increase tax
revenues, but what is more important? the money or the safety and well being of
people ?
Then, if the
weed clinic opened, most people will consume cannabins unwisely. In some
countries the weed clinic is not used as a place to treat patient but to take
